Self Portrait by princessbethany Self Portrait by princessbethany
So last week I got something exciting... I got my first set of studio strobes and a backdrop support system. WHOA. So I had to try out some self portraits as a way to practice :).

Nicely done! I've got a backdrop and a "backdrop support system" and I bought some old lights a long time ago from a guy at work but I've never used them. If you don't know the proper WAY to use them, what's the point, right? And I would be, forgive the pun, shooting in the dark on that. Besides, I'm terrible at people photography!!! I've shot a few weddings (only as a secondary photographer and only for friends) and did one baby/infant shoot....but by far, I'm not qualified for people photography. Oh, and I did my best friend's daughter's senior pictures.....

I really like the quality of this....I need to find a willing subject and try my hand again. I always shoot my great - niece but that's different....that's just for me and her Mom or my sister.....

Boy, I do run on, don't I? :)

You should totally get a subject and try again. I wouldn't advise practicing on yourself... that was harder than it needed to be (getting the photo to be in focus was a pain).

Honestly, this is my 2nd attempt at using studio lighting. I got a kit of Amazon that included 2 soft boxes, two strobes, a backdrop, and support system... and then just hit the ground running with no experience. Everything I know about setting up the lights and all I learned from the internet.

So yes, go get a subject and give it another "shot". You'll do great!!
